So who's going down if we're not?
|
I know we've got a long way to go but we look like we've turned the proverbial corner and I reckon there's good cause for confidence. Likewise Watford. I don't think Norwich have got enough to get out of it so I have them staying in bottom place. It's going to be close for Bournemouth but I think they have enough quality to escape the drop. My bet for 19th would be Brighton. I also think Newcastle are going to continue to slide so 18th will be between them and Villa. Probably Villa.
Aston Villa Brighton Norwich

Trunds - Because history shows that nearly always the best teams on paper (to put it one way) end up finding some form and wins that keep them up. Us and Watford will win more games, can't really predict that with Villa and Brighton.

Would be ironic if we were relegated by an ex Leyton orient player and an former WHU and ex Chelsea player who we always gave grief to!!
This is not boding well tbh

Norwich Villa and someone else.
We've won 2 in 12, isn't it? Not sure why so many are confident we won't be the 3rd team, especially who've got coming up and likely need 3 wins in 10.
I'd be thoroughly delighted if we do have to play Villa in the last game and it's winner takes all. I'm not convinced we get to the last game.

Villa is last game of the season, you can bet your bottom dollar that will be the game which decides who will be playing Championship football next season.

Lato that could be Newcastle, esp if we beat them

Need to beat Norwich and Villa for sure to put them out of reach then it’s whatever else we get from the other fixtures. Watford is by no means a nailed on win given their form.
I would expect us to go for it against Arsenal this weekend. There’s something in it if we play like we did Saturday.

Who was the last team like that, who got relegated?
I didn't say they would necessarily get relegated!
History shows that another team always drops into the mix......and for us the more the merrier!

hoping that newcastle get dragged into the scrap over the next few weeks. there's usually one that drops like a stone.
otherwise its two from: us villa watford bournemouth brighton
brighton are in the worst form, shame we threw away those points against them.

My mate, a Brighton fan says they are nailed on to drop. No decent strikers, he says.

Vexed 2:53 Sun Mar 1 Re: So who's going down if we're not? Arsenal, Wolves, Tottingham - bit early to assume we're not going down, if we can pick up four points I'll start to believe, but until then we're looking among the most likely to drop.
some of the others have harder run ins now we have all our Man City and Liverpool games out the way
Villa -
Leicester A Chelsea H Newcastle A Wolves H Liverpool A Man United H Palace H Everton A Arsenal H West Ham A Sheff United H - TBA

Games behind closed doors will surely be much fairer re if there is a Pandemic.

In four games time we will have a much better idea, right now it is a fight to survive for all in the bottom 6 teams possibly 7.

Zico - you may be right about the annulment if enough games are cancelled. I think they'd still award the title to Liverpool as they are so far ahead nobody would complain. The main problem would be with the Championship teams who would also certainly be promoted this year (WBA and Leeds).

I can see the bottom 3 staying the same.
As long as we go for the throat in enough games as we did on Saturday and we keep Antonio fit, we should be OK.

We're far from safe yet, although Saturday helped big time
Think Norwich and Villa will drop, Bourenmouth seem to not be able to keep clean sheets. Brighton dont seem to have many goals in them and everyone is saying how bad Newcastle are.
Think Watford will get out of it
We need 2 wins minimum from Newcastle, Villa, Burnley and Watford and then pick up points against Spurs Arsenal and one of Chelsea or Wolves..........Man Utd away bit of a free hit

I'm going to put my money on no one, as I think the whole thing will be declared null and void due to the outbreak. A Liverpool mate is terrified, not of the virus, but the thought that they won't win the title due to it!!!!

Norwich and Brighton nailed on
Villa's defence is shocking, but if not us then Bournemouth. Hard to see the Blades get sucked into it now , which I have been hoping for all season

Watford was a freak result and they'll go back to their drawing and losing. As Shearer said on MOTD, never has he seen a Liverpool team where every player was off his game.
